I have a SR green rake of 4, a GWR Choc/Cream rake of 5, and BR maroon rake of 4 just purchased from Zetland Model Railways for a good £ compared to fleabay prices. All run really well and look the part at normal layout viewing distance.
Zetland are very competitive I find. I've only ever bought European from them but will have a look at BR.

Quote from: Kris on January 02, 2024, 11:22:03 AMFinally we have a class 42 warship. This was a disappointment as it was DOA. It's lights worked but there was nothing going to the motor. When I took the body off the motor worked put the body back on and nothing from the motor. Because of the fault it is going back, hopefully I will get a replacement in a few days.

Just as an update on this one. I received a new Class 42 yesterday (I know Sunday and a Royal Mail delivery!) Thankfully this one appears to be working nicely. It has had about half the time it needs to run in, but so far so good.

An unexpected purchase turned up today. I already have 2 Dapol M7's from the original batches, but the Hattons closing down sale led me to an a new version to my basket. I think I got a goodun. No noticeable slope and a good hauler. She pulled 6 coaches around my test track with ease only slipping to a halt going up hill hauling 9 coaches.

Plain green Hymek from Kernow Models - brand new at old school pricing of £67.99
It would have been rude not to :D

Edit:- After the specified hour or so it's still running like a bag o' nails although it will crawl along when required. Pointless returning it for replacement as they haven't got any so it's either back to Dapol to see what they can do with it or to @Dr Al
 :(

Mine has been the same since I got it many years ago. I have a class 33/0 which is similar or same chassis and it is quiet. If you send it away for investigation, let us all know what the problem was and the cure please.
Cheers
Finally, after waiting over 55 years I am building a permanent layout in a purpose built shed!

Hello Mick, As you know  the obvious advantage of sending to DCC supplies is that it is free under warranty; , but last time I used them there was 13 week lead time. I have that model and it takes up to 30% to move it and it is also noisy in one direction. I only have one Dapol diesel that works well.

I've mailed Kernow just now so we'll see what they say. A refund is no earthly use to me as I want that plain green one. I've suggested they maybe transplant the body onto a tested chassis. If not, back to Dapol it goes.
Never had one of their diseasels this noisy (and I have several) apart from my class 33 where the requested replacement was just as noisy as the one I returned
Having said that, I also have a couple of quite noisy Farish locos too

Nice. IMHO you can never have too many coal trucks, especially for the era I model (mid 50s to mid 60s)

Newportnobby

Kernow have sent me a returns label and it will go back tomorrow.
At least they now have 10 in stock so hopefully can find me a quieter model (fingers crossed emoji)

Bob G

I'm sure they always planned on having these in stock (or Dapol have a warehouse full of them).

Rails are also doing them (at £79.95)

I'm not sure I would ever feel tempted to dabble in the "other side"...
