Crikey, what a line up Mick @Newportnobby . Someone on YouTube has broken down all the contributors to individual timings. Somebody that I think is overrated in the line-up is Eric Clapton, last good album "461 Ocean Boulevard" (IMO). Otherwise a pretty patchy back catalogue.

Cheers,

Believe it or not but apparently Glen Campbell, in his heyday, was rated in the top 5 guitarists

Yeah, that Knopfler organised thing has been getting a fair bit of publicity here. Certainly some big names there!

The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

For those who like the early Island samplers and maybe don't have the vinyl or kit to play it on, I recommend to the house the Island anthology 'Strangely Strange But Oddly Normal'.
It's a 3 CD set (UMC8472) containing 3½ hours of prog rock from 1967-1972 with many well known names

Thanks Mick @Newportnobby , there are some great tracks on that Anthology. My school chums didn't believe me that there was a band called Heavy Jelly (actually Skip Bifferty under a pseudonym - featuring future members of Ian Dury and the Blockheads).

Anyway, that neatly reminds me that on Wednesday (24 July) there is a BBC Prom "Nick Drake: an Orchestral Celebration" to mark the death of the great man who died 50 years ago in November at the age of 26. This can be heard on live on BBC Radio 3 at 7:30PM. I shall be listening...

Cheers,

Tim

I don't recall Heavy Jelly being on Bumpers.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Moonglum

Ah! that's because they were on "Nice Enough to Eat"! The song Heavy Jelly did ("I Keep Singing That Same Old Song") was a single.

Malc

Thanks for the heads up @Newportnobby , just ordered a copy.

The Mattson 2

I came across this little duo (in fact they are identical twins) recently.
Playing a combination of up tempo music and slightly upbeat jazz.
This is a natty little number which you may recognise :

For me, the best era of Jethro Tull with this super concert finishing with their signature "Wind Up/Locomotive Breath/Dambusters March". I saw them 3 or 4 times at this point, and also with the "Broadsword" tour and the "A" tour but always considered this the best........

I saw JT three or four times when I was MUCH younger but mainly because my mates dragged me along.
They were a band I never took to at all I'm afraid.
Each to their own though.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

I was a fan back in 1969 and a few years after, but you're not gonna like this Mick...

I just watched your link, and all I could think was, I wish it would hurry up and finish!
