That is very well done Martin @port perran - What fun!

PS the documentary is good as well, it's amazing what you can do these days.

Tonight BBC 4 is showing two of my favourite Michael Caine films. Released in 1971, Get Carter's theme music (written by Roy Budd) is shown over a railway journey between Kings Cross and Newcastle and partly from the driver's point of view.

Here is an alternative version of that iconic theme...

I am off to watch The Ipcress File now*.

Cheers,

Tim

PS *the opening scene was shot at Marylebone Station.

Back to the late 60s/early 70s

Colosseum were a band I very much liked and I saw them just the once in Bristol although I have very little, if any memory of it.

I can't remember if they have featured on here before. If so, apologies for the repeat.

Colosseum  had a pretty illustrious line up including the great Dick Heckstall-Smith on sax, Jon Hisemann on  drums and Clem Clempson on Guitar.

They were led by the larger than life vocalist Chris Farlowe but I'm unsure if he was the maker or breaker of Colosseum who always bubbled just below the water line.

The rest of the line up was Dave Greenslade on keys and Mark Clarke on bass.

Here they are with Lost Angeles from their 1994 reunion tour :

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

The nearest I got to jazz/rock fusion was probably 'Focus'. I do recall thinking the Colosseum line up was very talented but was not over keen on their music

Here especially for Martin @port perran is the latest single from Solstice...

I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did, I will catch up with Colosseum later.

Cheers,

Tim

Just one word - brilliant.
And a nice video as well.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

League Unlimited Orchestra 'Love and Dancing' (basically 'Dare' with little/no lyrics)
Stand out music

Moonglum

A big thumbs up to Colosseum but I am not so sure about the (Human) League Unlimited Orchestra.

Hmmm. Not at all sure about that one I'm afraid.

For me The Human League were one of the better acts from a pretty poor 1980s  musical decade.
I particularly liked Louise but a lot of their stuff was a bit samey in my opinion.
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

The wonderfully OTT band 'Poison' and their album 'Flesh and Blood'

Moonglum

Not something that I would normally listen to but nevertheless not bad at all Mick @Newportnobby . In the same sort of vein, the original version of this track by Christopher Cross was sublime but I heard this cover on Planet Rock (Rock Block) tonight...

I like it...

It'll come as no surprise that Poison leave me completely cold - just another of a thousand and one rock bands I'm afraid.

Saxon have a bit more about them but sorry - not for me.

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

I have received a copy of Steven Wilson's new CD "The Overview" and still not sure about it after four listens but I do like this track...

Shades of "Bladerunner"...

Cheers,

Tim

I'll not disagree with your first comment, Martin. It's probably why it's rarely played.
I tired long ago of the big hair/leather trousers/suggestive pouts/ghastly miming etc of (mainly) American bands where the vids are aimed squarely at an audience type and I'm definitely not one!!
Sadly some UK bands emulated this e.g. Def Leppard
