I went to town (the city really  ;)  ) and visited a book store that sells used and new books with a more technical aspect to them. I asked about railway books and the owner pointed me to the right section. Oh boy! In the box with old boks (cheap) I found a lot, then he bought two more books to me and said he didn't think I'd like them, but have a look. I also bought two newer ones and they cost more.

Here's the list:

Britain's Railways in Wartime by Kevin Robertson
Railway Modelling 8th edition (they had the first too) by Norman Simmons
West Midland, a railway in miniature by Edward Beal from 1952
The Peco book of Model Buildings by Mike Gill
The Craft of Modelling Railways by Edward Beal from 1938 or so
Buckingham Great Central, 25 years of railway modelling by Peter Denny
Gresley's Legacy, Locomotives and rolling stock by David McIntosh
The North Eastern Railway by Cecil J Allen
North Eastern Steam by W A Tuplin

Some show things in other scales, and not always the LNER, but I think I should have plenty to draw from with those books.

I'm in Sweden and British railways aren't that big here, so finding those books (there were more) in a book store surprised me a lot. It shouldn't of course, not in THAT book store, but I haven't been there in ages.

I normally google a title. It's amazing if I type ' railway books ' what generates

There's nothing like thumbing through a book and think that I need that one... and that one...

The book Britain's Railways in Wartime showed a picture of how the corners and posts are painted for blackouts so people won't bump into them. One more thing to think about for my station buildings.
