Why am I not surprised

It's not the use of mobile technology that most people complain about, its the inconsiderate, inappropriate and intrusive use of it. I use my laptop, tablet and smart phone in public without interfering with those around me it just takes a little thought and consideration. Silent mode, text instead of bellowing, or move to a more discrete location if necessary.

Unfortunately, some individuals have not discovered stealth mode on their devices, or personally for that matter.

Rant over from me.

Unfortunately the majority of uses in public places are inconsiderate and the will never be considerate. As usual the few are inconvenienced by the many at least in the area where I live.

Laptops have noisy clicking keypads and the receiving of texts often produces irritating  noises from the phone.

Why do people using phones think they have to orbit round the room whilst speaking?  Is the reason because the phone is called a mobile?
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Possibly, but for years a colleague at work walked up and down on a wired landline.

To all recent posts. Yeah, I've seen folks girating around the place on both mobiles and landlines.

Gotta be stress.  :D

And by the way I'm still quietly posting this from me phone with a beer in front of me. No stress here.  ;D

There will always be inconsiderate people in the world that spoil it for some with whatever medium they choose to use.
True; it seems that the way mobile phones have gone just make this so much easier, and seem to lower the bar  :(

3) I'm not sure where you get all the things on your list but maybe I'll try some next time. So far, I've not advanced past checking the footy/cricket score whilst the wife is in the toilet.
Thank god for that; other possibilities while in there make me shudder  :o  :P

I quite agree with you Mike, but you forgot one other important thing:

Talk loudly on mobile phone annoying other customers who can hear every word they say.
Blast - missed an obvious one !!!

Seriously, I can sympathise with many of the concerns in this thread, but the ability to be able to check the forum from almost anywhere is great. I'm doing it now over a beer while waiting for Mrs Bealman to arrive. And it ain't bothering anyone into boot.
I assume you bought the beer, sat down & had a sip before you got the phone out to browse ?

Quite different and (to me as well) an acceptable way, unlike what the original report shows.

Nowt wrong with catching up now & then in "quiet time" ...

Has anybody noticed that now almost everyone has a camera phone, there seem to be less sightings of UFOs reported?

Not just UFOs. Ghosts appear to be scared of mobile phones too and apparently there hasn't been a reported sighting of Nessie in nearly 10 years. Giving the population of the world cameras at all times seems to have done more to debunk the paranormal than decades of robust scientific study.  :P

Just a note, phone jamming devices are illegal in the UK under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006.

I think I'm more concerned the good lady is 'in' the toilet rather than 'on' it :worried:

And of course a jammer which causes mobile phones to stop working by pumping out EM radiation is not going to be at all conspicuous or easy to find is it?  :P
