This piece of advice has been going round facebook etc. for ages.  I guess it depends on what the document is and whether you're really paranoid about what might happen to it.

I make no claim to originality but don't use things like FaceTube, Twit-twoo and such media (and I'm being extremely polite with those appellations so the Boss doesn't tell me off (again)

Having worked in software development and gone through the Y2K debacle, I always use 4 digit years.  As mentioned above, for clarity between US and UK I also write DD-MMM-YYYY.

Kind regards

Pink Street?

So what's that address, then.....   :uneasy:

I was going to go all communist and put 'Red Street', but I decided to tone it down a little.

Pinko liberal commie!

The Chinese way of doing things has spread throughout the region, including here in Japanland, except with the added confusion that 29-10-20 is a perfectly valid date (October 20th, 2017 if you're wondering). Also the subtle art of consecutive street numbers was never adopted, instead addresses are based on blocks with no particular ordering and the possibility of duplicates.

Regarding road signs, could be worse, many places here don't have direction signs at all  :uneasy:

Where the streets have no name, eh? 🤔

That's a date formatting string common to many progamming languages, which means output the month as its 3-letter abbreviation rather than just the number, so for example 09-JAN-2020.   I use that one all the time in my work.

If you want to see poor road markings, try driving through the A14 roadworks near Cambridge.

They keep moving the lanes, so they paint the old lines out with a black glossy paint. However, the old lines still show through the paint, especially at night or if it's raining, and the black wears off anyhow.

You often see 3 sets of markings, and lines going diagonally across the carriageway.

Most confusing....

That sort of thing is very annoying when it sets off your 'lane drift' warning when you are driving in a perfect straight line between the two legitimate lane markings...

I remember some years ago driving out of Windermere towards the motorway and at one point the council roadmen were presumably doing something other than storing cones in the middle of the road.
As we got a bit further we could see that they'd been busy with the white paint, apparently putting in a third lane, which we assumed was planned to ease the flow of traffic either into or out of Windermere.
However, as we got further along this apparent new lane started getting narrower and narrower and we started to think "What the heck?"

All became clear when we got to the end and could see that they'd started to fill this "lane" with "do not enter" hatch markings, but had only done a few lines before knocking off for the day  ;)

I worked in Ghana a few years ago and saw this sign. Am I the only one who was confused?
